A leisurely 30-minute walk will take you to the old village of Nernier. Less crowded than its neighbour Yvoire, this village, which dates back to the Middle Ages, has retained its character as a fishing port:

The literary walk: Stroll through the cobbled streets, where excerpts from poems by Mary Shelley and Lamartine are engraved on the stones of the buildings.
The harbour and the jetty: Take a look at the traditional wooden boats and enjoy the unobstructed view of the Swiss coast on a clear day.

To get to Geneva, take bus route 271 from Messery Town Hall, or cycle 5 km to the Swiss border at Hermance to catch the direct services operated by the TPG network. For Thonon and Évian, bus connections or lake shuttle services are available from the port of Yvoire.

Where can you do your everyday shopping on foot?
